Japanese Acupuncture - Background
While acupuncture has its roots in China, Japan gave this medical practice its own twist, which was accepted immediately in the world of medicine. The general concept of Japanese acupuncture is using the least amount of stimulation to create the greatest effect in the patient. As opposed to traditional Chinese medicine, Japanese acupuncture uses thinner needles that are barely thicker than human hair. These needles are inserted in the body not deeper than 1 or 2 millimeters, if they are inserted at all. Less points and stimulation is basically the trick. Hence, the Japanese technique demands much greater care and precision than the Chinese technique, making it a challenge to the practitioner but an advantage to the patient because of the reduced pain. The Japanese style of acupuncture also requires more training than the traditional Chinese medicine.

Alan Jansson, Acupuncturist, for my family
Four members of my family have been treated by Alan over the last few years.
He has treated members of my family for Glandular Fever, Shingles, Tonsillitis, Respiratory Tract Infection and sporting injuries from tennis, squash, Rugby, Aussie Rules and Rugby League (a sports-mad family),
His gentle Japanese Acupuncture approach has had a profound effect on the speed of our recovery from these injuries and illnesses.
His acupuncture approach strengthens the immune system and restores strength and health very quickly. We benefited immensely from his specialization in the use of acupuncture for treating Glandular Fever in teenagers. He also specializes in treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in elite athletes.
We cannot speak highly enough of his professional approach, dedication to improving his practice and that of other clinicians, his engaging sense of humor and his groundedness through his love of surfing and nature.

He describes going to the beach at daybreak and seeing surfers bathed in silver light as the sun rises and the moon sets.
One of his favorite stories is explaining how a dolphin dived between him and another surfer to make the most of the barrel. Dolphins are superb surfers and born show-offs.
